How to pay the IELTS fee
British Council
- Interbank transfer (IBFT) through online banking or an ATM – the cheapest way
- Cash deposit at Standard Chartered or MCB
- Bank draft payable to “British Council Pakistan”
- Credit card online – the amount can differ slightly because of the exchange rate
- Cheques are not accepted. Pay within 3 days of registering.
IDP (AEO Pakistan)
- KuickPay, 1Bill or AbhiPay ID through EasyPaisa, JazzCash or internet banking
- Cash at any HBL online branch
- Credit card while booking (3–6% bank charges, a signed declaration form, and not for UKVI)
Don’t pay the IELTS fee twice
- Know your band before you bookTake a full practice test first. If you’re well below your target, book once you’re close – not before.
- Practise in the computer formatIELTS in Pakistan is on computer. Typing your essays and reading on screen take practice – do it before test day.
- Use One Skill Retake when you canMissed one skill by half a band? A One Skill Retake (from PKR 47,630) costs much less than a full test – if your university or visa accepts it.

What is the IELTS fee in Pakistan in 2026?
IELTS Academic and General Training on computer cost PKR 75,600 in Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad and most other cities, and PKR 76,240 in Lahore and most Punjab cities. The British Council and IDP charge the same for these tests.
Is the fee the same for IELTS Academic and General Training?
Yes. Academic and General Training cost the same – only the Reading and Writing tasks differ.
How much is IELTS for UKVI in Pakistan?
The British Council’s fee table lists IELTS for UKVI at PKR 72,000. IDP (through AEO Pakistan) lists it at PKR 78,820. Check the price shown when you book, as it can change.
What is the One Skill Retake fee?
IDP lists One Skill Retake at PKR 47,630 (Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad) or PKR 48,050 (Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala), and PKR 48,000 for UKVI. It lets you retake one skill within 60 days of an IELTS on computer test, if your university or visa accepts it.
How much does a re-mark (Enquiry on Results) cost?
IDP lists an Enquiry on Results at PKR 40,500 (PKR 41,000 for UKVI, PKR 30,000 for Life Skills). If your band goes up after the re-mark, the fee is normally refunded – confirm the current policy with your test centre.
Can I pay the IELTS fee with JazzCash or EasyPaisa?
With IDP (AEO Pakistan) you can pay through KuickPay, 1Bill or AbhiPay using EasyPaisa, JazzCash or internet banking, or in cash at an HBL branch. The British Council accepts interbank transfer (IBFT), cash deposit at Standard Chartered or MCB, a bank draft, or a credit card online.
What does the British Council fee include?
The British Council includes free access to IELTS Ready Premium (40+ practice tests) and five extra Test Report Forms sent to the institutions you apply to.
Is IELTS on paper still available in Pakistan?
The British Council now offers IELTS on paper only to candidates approved for special arrangements on medical grounds. IDP offers an ‘IELTS on computer – Writing on paper’ option in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi at PKR 83,160.
